FeedSaver Download

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, including the ones that aren't a simple yes.

Logging in

Do I need to log in to Instagram?

Yes. FeedSaver opens Instagram in its own window, you log in there as you normally would, and FeedSaver then sees what your account can see, the same as the Instagram app does.

Do you get my password?

No. Your password goes to Instagram, not to us. FeedSaver keeps the login session in its data folder on your PC so you don't have to log in every time. Nothing about your login is sent to us.

Can it save private accounts?

Only private accounts that you already follow, while you're logged in. FeedSaver can't see anything your own Instagram account can't see.

Should I log in with my main Instagram account?

We strongly recommend logging in with a second Instagram account instead, not your main one. If you use your main account, you do so at your own risk. To save a friend's private account, ask them to approve your second account's follow request.

What it saves

What can it save?

From an Instagram profile you can see: Posts, Reels, Reposts (Instagram's newer tab), Tagged posts, Stories that are up right now, and Highlights (you pick which ones). Also your own Saved posts, and any post or Reel link you paste, one or many. You can limit a save to photos or videos, and add captions as text files.

For each of Posts, Reels, Reposts and Tagged you choose Latest (a number you pick, from 1 to 10,000), All, or Only new, which stops at the first post you already have. Stories and highlights are always saved in full.

What can't it save?

Direct messages, drafts, comments, likes, and anything that's been deleted. It doesn't sort your saved posts into your Instagram collections: they're saved together in one folder. It can't bring back an account that's already gone, and it only sees stories that are still up, so it can't open the archive of your own old stories.

Will it download everything, every time?

It aims for every post Instagram shows you, but it can't promise 100%. Deleted, restricted or hidden posts can't be saved, and Instagram may not show every old post. FeedSaver shows what it saved and what is missing, with a reason for each, and you can try the failed ones again.

Isn't Instagram's own data download enough?

For your own account, it's a good start, and it's free: in Instagram, go to Accounts Center, then Your information and permissions, then Download your information. It's the way to keep your messages and comments.

What it doesn't do: it covers only your own account, it arrives as a set of HTML or JSON files rather than a photo library, and it doesn't compare itself with what you already have on your PC. You can choose which information and what date range to ask for, but you sort out the overlap yourself. FeedSaver adds a library on your PC you can browse and search by caption, accounts you follow, and updates that fetch only new posts. Many people use both.

Instagram and your account

Can Instagram limit my account?

Yes, it can, and no app can rule that out. Instagram may slow down, ask you to verify, or temporarily limit accounts that download a lot. We don't control that, and FeedSaver can't promise your account won't be limited.

FeedSaver is built to be careful: it saves at a steady pace, and if Instagram asks it to pause, it stops. If you're worried, start with a small job, such as the latest posts of one account.

What happens when Instagram asks it to pause?

FeedSaver stops and says so: “Instagram asked us to pause. Try again when you're ready.” Everything saved so far stays in your folder. It never pushes past Instagram's stop and never carries on by itself: it waits until you press Try again, and then you can resume where it left off. If Instagram asks you to log in again, do that in Instagram's own window, then press Resume.

Your files and privacy

Where are my files stored?

On your PC, in a folder you choose (by default Pictures\FeedSaver), with one folder per account. FeedSaver doesn't upload your photos, videos, captions or library anywhere. It talks to Instagram directly from your computer. More in the privacy policy.

What exactly gets saved?

Photos, videos, every image in a carousel, and (if Captions is on) the caption as a text file. Files are named with the post date, the account and Instagram's code for the post, like 2026-09-29_northlight_photo_C7zUj3FcW8p.jpg, so they sort by date in any folder. Reels, Reposts, Tagged, Stories and Highlights each go in their own subfolder.

Can I move or delete files?

They're ordinary files, so yes. Keep in mind that the library expects to find them where FeedSaver saved them.

Plans and buying

What's free, and what's in Pro?

Free saves up to 50 files a day with every way of saving. Files are counted, not posts: each photo, each video, each carousel image and each caption text file is one file, so a 10-photo carousel with its caption is 11. Files already on your PC aren't counted again. The count resets at midnight, your local time, and is shared across accounts. The library and search are free.

Pro is $39, paid once. It removes the daily limit and adds Update the accounts you follow: it goes through your Instagram following list one account at a time and saves only what's new for accounts you've saved before. You can untick accounts, and it remembers. You can use Pro on 2 PCs, with every FeedSaver 1.x version. See pricing.

Do updates come with Pro?

Every 1.x update we release is included at no extra cost, and your key doesn't expire. We plan to keep improving FeedSaver and fixing it when Instagram changes, but we can't promise updates: they're at our discretion, and Instagram can change things at any time. A future 2.0 may be sold separately, and a 1.x key doesn't install it automatically. Please use the free version to check it works for you before you buy.

Does Pro need an internet connection?

To activate it, yes. After that, FeedSaver normally re-checks your licence about every 3 days while it can reach the internet. If it can't verify your licence for 14 days, for example because you've been offline that long, Pro switches off until it can check again. Your saved files and your library stay available, and the free version keeps working. If you've entered a key and it later stops being valid, the app may keep trying to check that saved key while it runs as Free.

What does “early access” mean?

FeedSaver 1.0 is new. You may find rough edges, and screens and features may change as we improve it. If something doesn't work, email hello@feedsaver.app and we'll look at it.

What's the refund policy?

A limited one. You can ask for a refund within 7 days of buying if FeedSaver doesn't run on your PC or can't save from Instagram at all. Email hello@feedsaver.app first so we can try to fix it. We don't refund a change of mind, features that aren't included, or limits and suspensions Instagram puts on your account. A refund deactivates the Pro key. The full wording is in the terms.

Why might Windows warn me when I install it?

Windows SmartScreen can show “Windows protected your PC” for a new app from a publisher it doesn't know yet, and signing the installer doesn't always prevent it. If you downloaded the installer from this site, click More info, then Run anyway, if your PC offers it. The download page explains it step by step.

Is there a Mac or phone version?

No. FeedSaver runs on Windows 10 and 11.

Rules and rights

What am I allowed to save?

Save only what you have the right to keep: your own posts, content you have permission to save, or personal archiving where the law allows it. Don't re-upload or sell other people's photos and videos. This isn't legal advice, and the rules depend on where you live.

Is FeedSaver made by Instagram?

No. FeedSaver is an independent app. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Instagram or Meta.
